I'm Fighting It Till The End
My skin has ALWAYS been a thorn in my side as far back as I can remember. As a teenager with hormone changes and all that brings, my face would break out and, of course, I couldn't leave it alone. I thought I could somehow make it better if I picked the living stink out of it. How did that work out? Not so well! I remember one Christmas when I was around 13, I had the biggest, and I mean BIGGEST, zit on the end of my nose. Family members were coming home for Christmas. When I went with my parents to the airport, I tried my hardest to cover it up with makeup. Now I lived in Panama, and at Christmas time the planes were loaded with college kids coming home for the holidays. You were bound to know someone besides your loved one on the same flight (now remember, I am 13). So everyone is greeting their families, and this college guy that I always thought was SO cute (and maybe had a crush on) said, "Hey kid, what did you do, fall on you nose?" I wanted to die! So here I am, 47 years later, still working on improving my skin after years of abuse.
Two months ago I am watching the "spend" channel, better known as HSN. That's where I came across the DiamondBuff. I watched the demonstration of the microdermabrasion tool and was impressed. It's a little stainless steel bar with a crushed diamond head that skin care specialists have used and is now available for home use. Why not give it a try, right? Well, I love it! It's not a magic wand, but close. What does it do? It exfoliates all that dead skin on your face and, by doing so, stimulates collagen production. Sweet! It also leaves your skin looking and feeling smooth, and allows your serums and creams to do a better job. After one use I noticed an improvement. I mean, why wouldn't it look better with all the dead skin removed! Best part, no pain, no down time, no costly appointments and, for $60, it will last me years. How cool is that?
I now use it at least once a week on my face, neck, and hands. You will notice slight redness, but that's gone by morning. The more you use it, the better things get. I have noticed a marked difference in texture, tone, firmness, wrinkles, and fine lines. Follow the directions on the packaging, and there are some YouTube demonstrations that are helpful too. But here's another tip. Moisturize! I know that sounds like a no-brainer, but some of us (ummm me) think it might make skin problems worse. It doesn't, but you have to use something that doesn't have a lot of junk and toxins mixed in.
My all-time favorite is Boswellia Wrinkle Cream by Young Living, and it works great with the DiamondBuff. It is chalk-full of goodness like Frankincense and Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood. Those two essential oil power hitters stimulate the generation of new cells while moisturizing and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! For me and my problematic skin, it is light weight and is not irritating to my skin. I have tried a zillion different products, and this one is a winner.
So, what's the moral to this story? Don't pick your skin. I mean really, what was I thinking! I promise it will not make it better. Be consistent, exfoliate, exfoliate, and keep exfoliating for the freshest, most vibrant skin you can have at any age. But, most of all, moisturize that beautiful skin and embrace what you have today. But fight...always fight for the best "you" possible!
